Choosing and replacing the lamp

Pick the lamp that matches your filter: one is listed for the CF-1200, one for the C-2400, and two cover the CF-1200/1400 and CF-700/800 within the range that also includes the CF-600. Check the model on your filter and, if possible, the length and markings on the old lamp before ordering. UV lamps lose much of their effective output after many months of use even though they still glow, so many fishkeepers replace them roughly every 6 to 12 months. Always unplug the filter before opening the UV compartment, and never look at a lit lamp, as UV light harms the eyes. Handle the new lamp by its ends and avoid touching the glass; wipe off any fingerprints with a soft cloth. While the unit is open, clean the clear sleeve around the lamp, because a dirty sleeve blocks the light, and check that the seals are seated before you restart.
