Maxspect Coral Pruner

Materials and using it safely

The cutting blades are made from 3Cr13 stainless steel and the other metal parts from 304 stainless steel, both with a chromium finish to help them cope with regular contact with salt water. That makes the pruner strong enough for branching stony corals and frag plugs up to about 2.5cm thick. Where possible, cut corals out of the water over a tray or towel, and wear gloves, as some corals can irritate the skin. If you mainly need to reach deep inside dense staghorn colonies, Maxspect’s newer Long Nose Coral Pruner is designed for that job.

Good to know

Rinse the pruner in fresh water after each use and dry it well, since salt water speeds up wear on any cutting tool.
