Starting hoopers training

Hoopers is a low-impact form of agility in which the dog runs through arches, rather than jumping, while the handler directs from a distance, which makes it suitable for young dogs, older dogs and dogs that cannot jump. Start with a single hoop on grass: lure your dog through with a treat, reward on the far side, and add a cue word such as through. Once that is reliable, add more hoops in a gentle curve and gradually move further away so your dog learns to work ahead of you. Keep sessions short and fun, and finish while your dog is still keen.
