Seachem Purigen – 250ml

Seachem Purigen is a premium synthetic macro-porous polymer for fresh and saltwater aquariums. It removes soluble and insoluble organic impurities at a rate and capacity well beyond ordinary filter media, keeping water crystal clear and helping control ammonia, nitrite and nitrate. It darkens as it works and can be regenerated. This is the 250ml pack.

Choosing a pack size

Seachem rates 250ml as enough to treat up to 1,000 litres for up to six months, so the 100ml pack covers about 400 litres, 500ml about 2,000 litres and 1L about 4,000 litres. Rinse it before use and put it in a mesh bag of 180 microns or finer, placed where water flows through it rather than around it. When the beads turn dark brown or black it is exhausted; regenerate it by soaking for 24 hours in a 1:1 mix of plain household bleach and water in a non-metal container, then neutralise it in dechlorinator before reuse.

Good to know

Use it in a fine filter bag such as Seachem The Bag. Regenerate it following the label directions, then rinse and treat with a dechlorinator before reuse.
