A high-purity aragonite media that dissolves slowly with CO2 in a calcium reactor, supplying the elements corals need for growth and colour.
- High-purity aragonite
- 0.5-1cm grain
- For calcium reactors
Seachem Reef Reactor is a high-purity aragonite media for calcium reactors. It dissolves slowly under CO2, releasing calcium, carbonates and trace elements that corals need for growth and colour. This is the Medium grade, with a grain size of roughly 0.5 to 1cm.
Key features of the Seachem Reef Reactor

Running it in your reactor
As this aragonite dissolves it releases calcium, magnesium, strontium and potassium along with carbonates, so a single medium supplies several of the elements a reef draws on, and it also raises and steadies alkalinity, which helps keep pH stable. Seachem states it has a high soluble potassium content and very low levels of aluminium and phosphorus, which matters because whatever dissolves in the reactor ends up in your tank. Two settings decide how quickly it dissolves, the flow of water through the chamber and the pH inside it, so the same media can be run gently or harder as your corals’ demand grows. Check your reactor’s manual for the grain size it suits; Seachem also offers a coarser 1-3 cm Large grade.
Good to know
Rinse the media before filling the reactor, and adjust CO2 gradually while testing calcium and alkalinity.
