The Sicce UV-C Clarifier treats water with UV-C light to tackle algae, bacteria, germs and other harmful microorganisms, helping to keep the water clear. It is fully submersible to IP68, so it can sit directly in an aquarium sump or pond, or it can be connected in-line to a pump or canister filter using the barb fittings supplied for soft hose. Choosing a model

Two versions are offered here, 9W and 13W, both with a 3m cable, which Sicce intends for indoor use such as aquariums, sumps and turtle tanks; a separate outdoor 13W version with a longer cable exists for garden ponds. As a rule, the higher wattage suits a larger water volume or a faster flow. Connect it after the mechanical filter using the supplied barb fittings, so clear water passes the lamp. UV-C output fades with use, so plan to replace the lamp periodically; spare lamps and quartz sleeves are available separately.

Good to know

Never look directly at the lit UV-C lamp, and switch off and unplug the unit before opening it.
