Waterbox FW Activated Carbon Media for Freshwater Aquariums – 500 ml

Waterbox FW Carbon Media is activated carbon designed for freshwater and planted aquariums. It removes discolouration, odours, general contaminants, toxins and dissolved organics, and it is also useful for clearing medication after a treatment. Use 150 ml per 100 litres (25 gallons) in a canister filter or media bag and replace it monthly; in planted tanks or for medication removal, run it for up to three days at a time.

How far a tub goes

At the recommended 150 ml per 100 litres, the 500 ml tub covers a single fill for an aquarium of about 330 litres, or around three monthly changes for a 100 litre tank. Place the carbon after mechanical sponges or floss so trapped debris does not clog it. In planted tanks, run it only for short periods, as continuous use can strip out some of the liquid fertilisers your plants rely on, and always take it out before dosing medication.

Good to know

Place the media in a media bag, canister or reactor where water flows through it, and replace it as directed. Keep unused media sealed in its container.
