Feeding amounts and nutrition

Beaphar’s guide is 30 to 50g a day per guinea pig, offered over 24 hours, with anything left after that removed and replaced with fresh food, so a 1.5kg bag lasts one guinea pig roughly four to seven weeks. Because every pellet has the same recipe, guinea pigs cannot pick out favourite pieces and leave the rest. Each kilo supplies 1,100mg of stabilised vitamin C, alongside over 20% crude fibre, 21% protein and 2.9% fat, with no added sugar, chelated minerals for easier absorption, omega 3 and omega 6, and the prebiotics FOS and MOS.

Good to know

Feed alongside unlimited fresh hay and water, and introduce any new food gradually over about a week.
