Before fitting

Check that the pump in your aquarium is the WP1500, as Fluval uses this impeller in EVO, SPEC and FLEX tanks fitted with that pump. A worn impeller usually shows itself as rattling, humming without flow, or a stream that stays weak after the media has been cleaned. Unplug the pump, lift it out of the rear chamber, and pull off the cover to remove the old impeller with its shaft. Clean any slime or limescale from the chamber with a small brush, fit the new impeller, refit the cover and return the pump before plugging it back in.

Good to know

Unplug the pump before replacing the impeller, and clean the impeller chamber while it is open.
