JBL Carbomec Ultra

JBL Carbomec Ultra is a highly activated carbon in pellet form for marine aquarium filters. It removes yellow discolouration and high-molecular organic impurities from the water, helping to keep it clear. The carbon is adjusted to pH 8 and works within a pH range of 7.5 to 8.5, so it also suits hard-water set-ups such as Malawi and Tanganyika cichlid tanks. It is completely free of phosphate, does not affect pH or conductivity and does not release the substances it has bound. A net bag and clip are included, so it is ready to use straight away.

Where it fits best

Because the carbon is adjusted to pH 8 and suits a pH range of 7.5 to 8.5, it is the right choice for marine aquariums and hard-water tanks such as Malawi and Tanganyika cichlid set-ups, where it will not pull the pH down. It is phosphate-free and does not release bound substances back into the water. Rinse it in the supplied net bag, place it in the filter where water flows through it, and take it out while you treat fish with medication, as carbon absorbs the treatment.

Good to know

Before first use, put the carbon in the net bag, rinse it several times under warm water, then flush it with cold water and place it in the filter.
