Fitting the new parts

JBL designs the impeller to be replaced together with its shaft and bearings, which is why all three come in this kit. To fit it, unplug the filter, remove the filter head and open the bayonet catch on the impeller cover, then take out the old impeller with its shaft and bearings. Use the supplied pulling aid to remove any bearing that is stuck deep in the housing, clean slime and grit out of the chamber, and fit the new parts before closing the cover. If the filter still runs noisily afterwards, check the seals and hose connections for trapped air.

Good to know

Unplug the filter before servicing, clean the impeller chamber when fitting the new parts, and check the impeller whenever flow drops or noise increases.
