Replacing the impeller

JBL’s instructions are to remove the filter head, open the bayonet catch on the impeller cover, take out the old impeller with its shaft and bearings, and fit the new set. The impeller should always be replaced together with its shaft and bearings, which is why this kit includes all three plus a pulling aid for bearings that are hard to reach. Typical signs that it is due are rattling, grinding or a clear drop in flow. Clean any slime or limescale from the impeller chamber before fitting, and check the model on your filter label, as this kit is for the e701.

Good to know

Unplug the filter before servicing, clean the impeller chamber when fitting the new parts, and check the impeller whenever flow drops or noise increases.
