Fitting and checking the valve

When the CO2 supply runs out, or when a solenoid closes at night, water can siphon back along the hose into the pressure reducer and damage it; the SafeStop blocks that return flow. To fit it, cut the CO2 hose and push the valve in between, with the arrow pointing towards the aquarium, then tighten the lock nuts. If you use a bubble counter, placing the valve between the counter and the regulator helps keep counter liquid out of the regulator too. Check valves can stick over time, so if your bubble rate drops for no obvious reason, check the valve and replace it if needed.

Good to know

Fit it in the CO2 line outside the aquarium, and check it regularly for blockages.
