Choosing a wattage

Three wattages are available. The 60 W suits small terrariums or adds extra warmth in a larger set-up, the 100 W suits medium enclosures, and the 150 W is for large habitats or cooler rooms. Glass terrariums lose heat faster than wooden vivariums, so they may need a higher wattage. It is better to choose slightly more power and let the thermostat control it than to run an undersized emitter flat out. Because ceramic heat can dry the air, check humidity regularly in tropical set-ups.

Good to know

Always run the emitter from a thermostat to prevent overheating, fit it in a ceramic socket and use a heat guard when it is inside the enclosure. It gets very hot, so let it cool before handling.
