Pairing it with a bulb

A 5.5 inch dome suits small to medium enclosures where a compact basking spot is enough. Pair it with a bulb of 75 W or less, such as a 25 to 75 W basking spot, and never fit a higher-wattage bulb even briefly. Place it over one end of the enclosure to create a warm side and a cooler side, and run heat bulbs through a thermostat and timer so the day and night temperatures stay steady.

Use only bulbs up to the fixture’s maximum wattage, rest the dome on the mesh top or hang it so it cannot fall, and keep the cable away from water and pets. Unplug and let it cool before changing a bulb.
