The UVB supports healthy calcium metabolism while the heat bulb creates a warm basking area for thermoregulation, so one box covers both the lighting and heating needs of a typical tropical terrarium. Both bulbs fit standard E27 dome fixtures.

Setting up both bulbs

The moderate 5.0 UVB level suits forest and tropical species that bask in dappled light, such as chameleons, anoles, day geckos and tree frogs. Fit each bulb in its own dome with a ceramic socket rated for its wattage, and run the heat bulb through a dimming thermostat so the basking spot does not overheat. Check the basking and cool-end temperatures with a digital thermometer at animal level.

Good to know

Fit the lamp over the basking area at the distance given on the pack, run it on a 10 to 12 hour daytime cycle and replace it when the pack advises, as UVB output fades before the visible light does.
