Dosing and what to expect
Seachem’s dose is one capful, 5ml, per 40 litres after setting up or a large water change, then one capful per 200 litres daily or every other day; each thread inside the cap holds about 1ml for smaller tanks. At the regular rate the 250ml bottle gives 50 maintenance doses for a 200-litre aquarium. Seachem rates it at roughly two-thirds of the growth benefit of injected CO2, so it suits low-tech planted tanks well. Some keepers also see less black beard algae while dosing it, although Seachem does not sell it as an algae treatment.
Good to know
Some plants, such as Vallisneria, can be sensitive to Excel, so start at the recommended dose and watch how plants respond.
