Dosing and how long it lasts
Seachem’s directions are 5ml per 40 litres when setting up a tank or after a water change of more than 40%, then 5ml per 200 litres daily or every other day. At the daily maintenance dose, a 100 litre tank uses about 2.5ml a day, so this 500ml bottle lasts around six months, a sensible size for small and medium tanks. Dose at the same time each day so the routine is easy to keep, and avoid overdosing, which can harm fish and invertebrates. The 2 litre bottle is better value for large planted tanks.

Some plants, such as Vallisneria, can be sensitive to Excel, so start at the recommended dose and watch how plants respond.
