Using plant scissors

At 26cm long, the scissors reach down to the substrate without you having to plunge your whole arm into the tank or disturb the layout. Use them to trim stem plants just above a leaf node, replanting the healthy tops if you want more plants; to keep carpeting plants short and even; to snip off dead, yellow or melting leaves at the base; and to shorten long roots before planting new specimens. A clean cut heals better than tearing leaves off by hand and stirs up less debris. Net out the clippings afterwards, since floating leaves rot and add waste to the water. Keep the tips away from silicone seams and from your fish while working. After each use, rinse the scissors in fresh water, especially after marine tanks, dry them thoroughly so the pivot keeps moving smoothly, and store them safely out of reach of children.
