Choosing the right tube

T5 tubes are matched to their fixtures, so check the wattage and length of your existing controller before ordering: the 8 W tube is 28.8 cm (11.3 in) long and the 24 W tube 54.9 cm (21.6 in). Aim for a tube that covers a good part of the enclosure’s length while still leaving a shaded end where your reptile can escape the UVB. Fit it so there is no glass or plastic between the tube and the animal, as both block UVB.

Good to know

Run on a 10 to 12 hour day cycle, mount inside or over the enclosure as the fixture allows, and replace the tube every 12 months as UV output fades.
