Waterbox Phosphate Media for Saltwater Aquariums – 500 ml

Waterbox Phosphate Media is a highly efficient absorber that removes phosphate and silicate from saltwater aquariums. High phosphate can lead to unwanted algae and duller coral colours, and Waterbox recommends keeping it at 0.02 to 0.05 ppm in reef tanks. Use 25 to 100 ml per 100 litres (25 gallons), ideally in a fluidised media reactor, and replace it every four weeks or sooner if phosphate starts to climb.

Dosing it safely

Start at the lower end of the dose and test phosphate every few days, increasing gradually if needed, as a sudden drop can stress corals, particularly sensitive SPS species. As an example, a 200 litre reef dosed at 50 ml per 100 litres uses 100 ml per change, so the 500 ml tub lasts around five changes. Set the reactor flow so the media tumbles gently rather than grinding together, and keep a reliable phosphate test kit to track results.

Good to know

Do not rinse before use. Run the media in a fluidised reactor or a media bag in good flow, and replace it as directed. Keep the tub sealed.
