Waterbox Alkalinity Reef Supplement – 500 ml

Waterbox Alkalinity is a liquid supplement for maintaining carbonate hardness in reef aquariums. Alkalinity is one of the most important parameters in a reef tank: corals use it as a building block for their skeletons, and it helps keep pH stable. Waterbox recommends holding alkalinity between 7.5 and 9.5 dKH, and each 5 ml dose raises it by 0.125 dKH in 100 litres (25 gallons).

Working out your dose

Based on Waterbox’s figure of 0.125 dKH per 5 ml in 100 litres, raising alkalinity by 1 dKH in 100 litres takes about 40 ml, so a 500 ml bottle provides roughly 12.5 dKH of increase across 100 litres. Scale that to your system’s water volume, including the sump. Aim to raise levels by no more than about 1 dKH a day, and dose away from calcium supplements.

Good to know

Test your water before dosing, add the supplement to a high-flow area and adjust gradually, never raising levels quickly. Keep the bottle closed, out of reach of children and away from direct sunlight.
